Weekly Drop-in Classes

Our weekly meditation drop-in classes are taught by qualified Buddhist teachers, and are very easy to understand and apply to our daily lives. The classes are suitable for both beginners and more advanced practitioners, and emphasize how to use meditation and subsequent practices amidst the busyness of modern, daily life. The union of Buddha’s teachings within our daily life is the essence of Kadampa Buddhism.

Learn to Meditate with Gen Kelsang Dornying (3 Jan – 31 Jan)

Establishing a regular meditation practice can seem overwhelming at first. Do I need any special equipment? How long should I meditate for? What’s the goal exactly? Is it just sitting quietly? What about those apps – are they any good? I need someone to guide me!

Get the answers to all these questions and more at our Learn to Meditate series. You’ll learn proven strategies for calming the mind, reducing stress, and finding peace wherever you are.

This beginner-friendly course is also a helpful refresher for more experienced students.

How to Transform Your Life with Gen Kelsang Dornying (weekly)

In 2016 Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso published ‘How to Transform Your Life – A Blissful Journey’. Half a million copies have sold, as well as countless downloads of the freely available ebook version, Geshe Kelsang’s gift to all!

This contemporary Buddhist handbook gives our life meaning and direction. It presents practical methods for overcoming problems such as depression and anxiety and explains how to be happy all the time by developing and maintaining a peaceful mind.

Both in-person and streamed live on-line from our new premises in Melbourne’s CBD, Buddhist Monk Gen Dornying will teach this special text. The course will run every Tuesday, and although Gen Dornying will transmit and give commentary to the whole book, you can drop in any week.

We were once told ‘all you need is love’, but as our life unfolded, maybe we thought, ‘sounds nice but I also need a good job, a nice home and many other things to complete my life.’ While it’s true that our needs need to be met, what could be more important than our happiness and wellbeing?

Buddha taught that love is the great protector. We’ll explore why in this course, but principally, we all know that it feels good to be kind to others, and to wish them well. In this series of meditation classes, streamed live and available to replay, learn how to enjoy a genuinely happy life by cherishing others.

The course is based on The Mirror of Dharma with Additions by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso. This book is an indispensable handbook for those seeking happiness and meaning in their lives.

Escape the stress and busyness of daily life to discover the peace of meditation for yourself in these free 30 minute meditation sessions. Be guided through simple meditations that relax the mind and body, leading to a deep experience of inner peace and contentment. Beginners welcome. Drop-in any week. There is no charge for any of these sessions.
